Who can apply?
International School Groningen is part of the Dutch International Schools (DIS). Dutch International Schools are recognised and financed by the Dutch government's Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science. This means that admission to ISG follows specific national guidelines.
Are you applying to the Middle Years Programme (11-16)?
Students who wish to join the Middle Years Programme (MYP) are accepted throughout the school year, assuming there is space available. To be eligible to apply to MYP at the International School Groningen, students must meet one of these three criteria:
- International family with working parent: the student has a non-Dutch nationality (or dual citizenship) and one parent with a temporary work assignment in the Netherlands.
- Dutch student moving abroad: the student holds a Dutch citizenship and has a parent who will be relocated abroad, with whom the student will reside.
- Returning Dutch student: the student holds a Dutch citizenship and has lived and attended a school abroad for at least two years.

Are you applying to the Diploma Programme (16-18)?
The Diploma Programme (DP) is open to all students, expats and Dutch nationals.
- Students who wish to enter DP will need to demonstrate their academic level with current school records.
- Students from another IB world school require a letter of recommendation from their current school ensuring that they are able pass into the DP.
- For Dutch nationals (see also below) this would be a recommendation to start a VWO5 course or full attainment of a HAVO diploma.
- Students will also be required to take entrance tests and attend an interview.
- Students beginning DP must start their studies at the beginning of the school year in August/September. We cannot accept students wishing to join DP1 after the end of September.

Are you a Dutch student applying to transfer to the Diploma Programme (16-18)?
Dutch students who wish to transfer to the Diploma Programme have obtained their havo-diploma or a certificate of promotion to year 5 in a vwo-school and can prove that they are sufficiently fluent in English according to ISG’s criteria.
